Impressionistic Painter in Phoenix, Arizona
Edward Sprafkin is a Phoenix-based impressionistic painter specializing in watercolor, gouache, and acrylic. His work explores the vibrancy of nature, human connection, and fleeting moments through bold shapes, expressive color, and atmospheric compositions. Edward paints landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and figures, creating art that captures energy, emotion, and story.
Artistic Training and Background:
Edward studied at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, the Art Students League of New York, and the Scottsdale Artists' School, as well as numerous curated workshops and online courses. These experiences helped him develop his signature impressionistic style and mastery of water-based media.
Teaching and Workshops: In addition to creating original fine art, Edward is passionate about teaching. He has led painting workshops and art classes in Phoenix and throughout Arizona, including at the Scottsdale Artists' School and the Arizona Artists' Guild. His teaching focuses on impressionistic techniques, color theory, composition, and helping emerging artists find confidence and develop a personal style. Exhibitions, Features, and Collections: Edward Sprafkin's work has been featured in American Artist Magazine, exhibited nationally—including at the historic Salmagundi Club in New York City—and collected by art lovers across the United States and internationally. Edward is also a faculty member for Acrylic Live 2026, hosted by Eric Rhoads, publisher of Plein Air Magazine and other leading fine art publications.
