Drawing and painting since childhood, artist Edward J. Sprafkin has always been drawn to the little things that many of us simply overlook, whether it being the way the light falls upon an everyday object or the many moods of the great outdoors. “Everyday, nature orchestrates a magnificent performance. My aim is to capture these moments”, says the New Jersey native.
When painting in plein air he strives to capture light and essence of the scene. He instinctively sees art and beauty in spectacular views to the simplest corners of a setting.
The artist is an instructor at the Morris County Art Association, Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, The Center for Contemporary Art, a member of the Art Center of New Jersey, New Jersey Society of En Plein Air Artists, the Oil Painters of America and the Portrait Society of America.
Edward studies the work of the great masters of the past and also finds endless inspiration in many of the masters of today. He continues to join exhibitions at local art galleries and remains active in plein air events in and around NJ.
